Burkitt is a documentary film exploring the life & work of Denis Burkitt, an Irish surgeon who discovered and cured Burkitt’s lymphoma - told by director, Èanna Mac Cana - a survivor of this cancer. The legacy of Burkitt’s medical work is of profound significance today, affecting the lives of millions of people across the world. Weaving the patterns, parallels and chance events between lives, first time filmmaker, Éanna Mac Cana creates a unique experience combining his personal recordings as an in-patient being treated for Burkitt’s lymphoma and Denis Burkitt’s own extensive and astonishing archive of photographs and films from sub-saharan Africa.
